Bake Up A Storm With Your Kids

by admin

Getting your kids to have fun and use their imagination could be a difficult feat if it means they are not watching TV or playing video games. Fun activities for kids are great ways for you the parent and your kids to have fun together and at the same time, use important creativity. But the most difficult part about having fun with your kids is trying to pry their little fingers off of the TV remote or the Xbox controller. Anything other than TV and video games are considered boring or they are seen as “school”. However, once you have successfully removed them from in front of the TV, you can truly have a lot of fun and fun that your kids will want to repeat later.

One of the best ideas I have with my children is to bake together. This is not only a great way to have fun, but it teaches them many other important lessons, including fractions (from measuring cups), timing, and multi-tasking. It’s also a great introduction to the kitchen.

But most of all, baking with your kids will keep them entertained for a while, that is if you do it right. First, you must not think of it like baking on your own. The final product is less important than the actual baking itself. So, if the cake/cookies/muffins are disgusting, even inedible, don’t worry. The baking is the important part. Also, forget about the mess, wear some old asics running shoes that you dont care if they get dirty. In fact, making a mess should be seen as compulsory. Have fun in the kitchen! Throw flour, break some eggs. Let your kids feel free in the kitchen (except of course near the stove). Put on some music, preferably their choice, and enjoy a good, messy baking afternoon.

Kids usually shy away from anything that looks like “work”. Do your best to make it look like it’s fun and not cooking, especially if you’re not very good in the kitchen. Make lots of mistakes and joke around with your little ones.
