When trying to find activities for kids to do on rainy days it may difficult. When it is sad and gloomy outside it can be difficult to pep kids up. They may want to just sit in front of the television and let their minds turn to goop. Don’t give in. Get them up, put them in an old pair of running shoes and play in the rain. If you aren’t really a fan of mud puddles however, get them moving with some of these activities.

A great activity to do on a rainy day is potato or apple prints. Get some washable paint or make some homemade paint. Then take a potato or an apple and cut them in half. Take the apple and press it into the paint. Then press it onto the paper. It will make an apple print. Now with the potato you can get a bit more creative. The kids can get you to or if they or big enough cut the potato themselves. The edge of the potato, where it was cut in half, can be trimmed to make different shapes such as a heart or star. Then you can press it into the paint and then the paper to make that design. Cut different shapes into different potatoes and let the kids make awesome patterns.

You can always build a fort on rainy days. Take some sheets and some chairs. Drape the sheet over the chair and clip or fasten. You can like the one for to many other by just using a lot of sheets. The kids will enjoy hiding in their fort and crawling all around to stay under it’s low roof.

You can also have a band. Get out the pots and pans, lids, and glasses. Put water in the glasses at different levels. Allow the kids to gently hit the side of the glass with a spoon and use the glasses as a xylophone. Let them hit the pots and pans with wooden spoons and pretend they are a drummer in a rock band. Let them bang the lids to the pans together and pretend they are cymbals. No matter what the weather is outside, with a little creativity it can be a great day.
