Kids Ski Gear

Nothing is more important than having the proper ski gear for your kids on your next family ski holidays. When buying ski gear and clothing, you want to be sure that it is well insulated, warm and water proof. You could be affecting your children’s health and safety if you neglect this little advice.

The basic ski gear for kids should include a hat, goggles, ski pants, jacket, gloves and thermals. Also, very important is the use of a ski helmet. Helmets are lightweight, ventilated and comfortable. You should find some quality ones at your local ski shop.

Goggles should offer both UVA and UVB protection and come with citrus orange or vermilion lenses. This will help distinguish shapes and bumps in the snow and protect from sun glare.

Snow gear should fit your child correctly. If you buy it too small, it can be constricting to your kids and affect their skiing. Also, do not get tempted to buy bigger gear hoping your kids will grow into it. This also makes skiing difficult and can open them up to snow and cold water which can lead to frostbite or hypothermia. Plus, bigger gear is uncomfortable for your kids and will make it much harder to ski.

Toss in a few more dollars and buy your kids the brands that they want. Even if you save some money on gear that they do not want, you are still wasting money because chances are they will feel silly and not wear it. Buying off season can help. There are many different brand names of ski clothing which include Bonfire, Billabong, Quiksilver and O’Neill.
